Tools Toys

The heading says it’s about “Personal Technology”, but it’s bigger than that – personal technology is where we see it show up first.

Humans are playful creatures – we try to turn tasks into games, even if the outcome involves getting injured. So why not design the tools to make the work more like play? Nobody asked for computer games, but they have always been hits because programmers saw the opportunity to create code they could play with and put it out into the world for all to play with.

We’d all like our work to feel like play, and now we’ve got the tools to make it practical. It’s a design problem!
